Windows 10: Cannot Open Certain Apps

Hi,When I proceed to open the Minecraft launcher on my Windows 10 laptop I am met with an error code stating: Minecraft Launcher is currently not available in your account. Make sure you are signed in to the Microsoft Store and try again. Here's the error code, in case you need it: 0x803F8001. I have tried numerous methods to try and resolve this situation, such as uninstalling and reinstalling the Minecraft launcher, updating the Microsoft Store, and Signing in and out of the Microsoft Store, but I was still met with the same error code. Help would be much appreciated,Frank

This is the suggested solution below if you haven't already tried it.

In this Windows 10 build 10041, the Mail, Calendar, and People apps may be broken due to a licensing issue with the Store Beta. To get these apps working again, you need to follow these steps:

• Open powershell as administrator
• Run the command Get-appxprovisionedpackage –online | where-object {$_.packagename –like “*windowscommunicationsapps*”} | remove-appxprovisionedpackage –online
• Re-install Mail, People and Calendar from the Store (green tile)

 

How to change default app to open certain file types.

It's not as simple as it seems
Although it's easy as pie to change default apps by type file, but how to do it if I want to use app that's not on the default Window list?
Like in this example,



File is opened by IE but I have installed in my system programme called Notepad++ and I want it to open .xml files whenever i double click on them. But Notepad++ is not on the Windows list



So how to set this up to open .xml files with Notepad++?

I did that to no avail, then I ran WSReset.exe; now I'm good on all 3, Mail, Calendar and People! *Confused
Go figure!
