Windows 10: Cannot open files sources c:\sources\install.wim during Windows installation

Hello, i have been trying to load win10 onto my PC, i have checked to make sure its 64 bit and that the file is .wim. I am using linux right now but originally had win10 so i know its compatable. Since I am using linux i am using unetbootin to make the file bootable. I have tried redownloaded and reformatted the usb several times and continue to get same error. It is formatted in fat32



EDIT: I have gotten past ths issue by naming the usb drive C, now it is saying there are no drivers. is my ISO file corrupt or something?

DISM.exe 'The source files could not be found'

Hi

I get again 'source files could not be found' when I run that command.

The folder C:\Sources does not exist on my computer

Also, I am confused by the file formats: I downloaded a .iso from Microsoft's website, but DISM requires a .wim?

It seems there is an intermediate step missing...

C windows installer folder - Delete?

He can do symbolic link redirection and move the files in it to a different location. *Wink
Better try it out in a virtual of first. Just a suggestion.

Like:
First move everything in c:\windows\installer to d:\installercache
Then delete c:\windows\installer folder
Then type this in command mode as admin
mklink /d c:\windows\installer d:\installercache

Removing those installer files is a bad idea. it might prevent you from updating or uninstalling apps.

The error Cannot find C:\sources\install.wim means Windows Imaging Format (WIM) is a file-based disk image is missing. It might occur when the bootable media is not created for properly.

I suggest you to try creating new bootable media to install Windows 10 and check if it helps.
