Windows 10: cannot open opera

my lenovo idea centre is running win 10 , in the last 2 weeks microsoft has been doing updates in this PC, these have not been entirely completed , one item has failed twice to download

i have used the opera browser for many years , now i cannot open it , i have uninstalled it and re-installed it , it is in the task bar but will not open .
in addition to-day i find i cannot open M/S Edge either , i can open firefox ok and i installed vivaldi and they are both working ok .
it has been suggested in another source i turn of bitdefender which i have done , i do not run any other anti virus , but i do run , the 10 bit malware fighter and the advanced system care programs i have done for at least the last 2 years .
any help greatly appreciated ,

Opera/uTorrent question

Hey guys,

I wanted to know if it's possible to make Opera remember how to deal with .torrent links. My "Remember choice" box is greyed out in Opera whenever I click on a torrent file link. Here's what pops-out for me:


What I do is I press "Open" and then the uTorrent "Add New Torrent" window pops-out. Then you just press "Ok" to start the download.
Is there a way to automate this or some way to skip of one those steps when downloading torrents in Opera?

Well, I do it, & you can really "extend" it for security, to-the-max, @ a browser level ontop of what you may do @ a router/hardware level, NIC settings levels, The OS' IP stack levels via registry hacks/tunes & also Software Firewalls in software &/or HOSTS files usage (from my ramdrive for speed of access)...

BUT, even more, such as Java on/off, JavaScript on/off, Cookies on a site-per-site basis - you name it! Easily GUI configurable!
