Windows 10: Cannot open or preview Outlook attachments anymore

    Cannot open or preview Outlook attachments anymore


    Upgraded Win 7 Pro to Win 10 pro. Using Outlook 2013. Office attachments (word, excel etc...) can no longer be previewed or open directly from within the email. Now have to drag to desktop to open.

    Windows seems to report that the files are corrupt when attempting to open from within Outlook.

    Any ideas on how to fix this?

    Unable to open attachment (Word files) since I upgraded to windows 10

    I too can't get the Outlook preview to work.

    However, a solution that worked for me to open the attachment by double-clicking was to open Word - Options - Trust Center - Trust Center Settings... - Protected View - uncheck Enable Protected View for Outlook attachments. Once done I was able to double-click
    the Word attachment in Outlook.

    An alternative solution was to save the attachment. Then right-click on the document - Properties - check the "Unblock" checkbox. Now Word will open the document, but not in Protected View.

    pdfs in outlook mail

    I cant open attachments anymore in this stupid outlook.com. new format I hate, takes forever to load and now I have to save all attachments and exit outlook to open files. Not a friendly program. Edge is the worst.
