Windows 10: Cannot open pictures

Discus and support Cannot open pictures in Windows 10 Network and Sharing to solve the problem; Try to open pictures on my HP laptop running Windows 10 and they will not open.     Cannot open pictures


    Try to open pictures on my HP laptop running Windows 10 and they will not open. The only thing it shows in the file is something like: 20230802_150457. And says it cannot not open. What app am I missing to open pictures?Thanks in advance.

    I understand that you are getting error when trying to open Pictures on your computer. I'll certainly assist you with the issue.



    However, please let us know:



    • May I know the default application that is set to open pictures?
    • Which build version of Windows 10 is installed on the computer?



    It could be possible that the application set to open pictures is not working properly. If Photos app is set as the default application to open
    pictures, I would suggest you to refer the troubleshooting steps mentioned in the article

    Fix problems with apps from Microsoft Store    .

    Pictures in Pictures folder will not open

    Aloha,

    Thanks for the suggestions but I have already done everything listed. Nothing is giving me back access to my pictures. I can enter the files but the pictures will not open.

    Quick Access not searching Pictures folder

    Summary, that last suggestion didn't work.

    • I moved the pictures to another folder temporarily.


    • Since there were no troubleshooting steps for this scenario, just for the heck of it, I ran through the restore steps. Copied some pictures into the Pictures folder, ran a Quick Access search and initial problem remains: Searching all of QA doesn't find any files in Pictures folder, running search on just the Pictures folder does. I want to run a global search and find matching files in any/all of the Documents, Music, Videos, and Pictures folders.
    That article dates from 2015 and I'm guessing is out of date. I hope it didn't create potential future problems in my registry.

    Bottom line: I'm still looking for a fix.
