  1. cannot permanently remove vEthernet adapter after removing Hyper-V

I enabled Hyper-V on a Windows 10 Pro machine to try using a Virtual Machine, but could never get the networking right. I could get either the VM or the host machine to have internet access, but never got both working simultaneously.

I decided to give up on Hyper-V and removed it from Windows.

But, every time I restart my machine, the wifi takes several minutes to find networks, and Windows installs the vEthernet adapter again. I've disabled, uninstalled, reinstalled Hyper-V and tried removing everything from there, but Windows just keeps reinstalling the adapter.

How would one permanently remove the vEthernet adapter from windows once and forever?

  2. Cannot remove vEthernet (Ethernet), Hyper-V Virtual Ethernet Adapter

    Thank you for your interest.

I may have been unclear about my remaining problem (maybe not relevant to my header): After uninstalled the Windows Sandbox, the created 8 Gb Virtual disk was not removed. Then uninstalling the Microsoft Virtual Disk in
Device Manager, it is reinstalled after reboot and also bringing back the two Hyper-V adapters. There is no problem to remove Hyper-V Adapters again as long as also the Switch one just shown in the hidden view is deleted. And I have to keep the Virtual
    Disk.

Anyway I tried your suggestion. In the page you referred to, Method 1, just check and uncheck the Hyper-V Hypervisor, did not make any difference. It didn't ask for a reboot. I did it again but made a reboot in between and the vEthernet adapters were
back. But after removing them it's OK.

When I installed the main Hyper-V again I got a second Hyper-V Virtual Ethernet Adapter #2. Uncheck Hyper-V in Windows Feature, Reboot and deleting those two and the Switch Adapter, it is ok, they stay away.

So there seems to be something else starting up the Hyper-V adapters. Something is looking for MS Virtual Disk and if not found starting it up again and also the Hyper-V Virtual Adapters.

When I earlier tried the Sandbox I had problems with the Internet connection, made some ethernet bridge that did not work either so I uninstalled the Windows Sandbox. Got the local network problems (solved here) but the Virtual Disk is still there.
Its partition table is beeing locked. I have avoided to install and uninstall the Sandbox again. There are some inherent issues that I ought to understand first.

I am not the only one who wants to remove the Virtual Disk.

  3. Cannot remove vEthernet (Ethernet), Hyper-V Virtual Ethernet Adapter

I am back, missed an acceptable (temporary?) solution in the Device Manager.

The default view in Device Manager doesn't show hidden devices.

When checking this under the View folder, another Hyper-V Switch Adapter poped up.

I disabled the vEthernet (Ethernet) adapter, uninstalled the now 2 Hyper-V adapters and

all the Hyper-V connections shown under the View folder. Reboot and the vEthernet Adapter was gone.

And my local network is shown again in the File explorer. So far so good.

The Sandbox (the reason to the problem) also installed an 8 GB Virtual Disk and later I also tried to uninstall the Microsoft Virtual Disk in the Device Manager.

Well, it came back after Reboot and at the same time installed the vEthernet back again!

At the moment I have to live with the 8 GB Virtual Disk (MS solution: not showing it in MS Disk Management after 2004 upgrade).
At least the annoying vEthernet Adapter is gone at the moment.

The only solution to this Sandbox mess I have seen so far is to reinstall Windows 10 again.

Cannot remove vEthernet (Ethernet), Hyper-V Virtual Ethernet Adapter

    Thank you for your reply.

But it did not really help me.

At the moment I am quite sure I have manage to live with the problem.

I tried a lot of things and when it suddenly worked I don't know which of the points below did it:

    1. I stopped (all) the services "Hyper-V ...". Just one was Running. Had to DISABLE it, because when just stopping it something started it up again. Default Manual (Trigger Start).

    2. I disabled the vEthernet(Ethernet) Adapter in the Network Connection page. It came back after a short time once when I uninstalled it there.

    3. Device manager: uninstalled the vEthernet Adapters (Ethernet) and (Switch) under Network adapters. Hidden devices must be shown, (checked in View tool), to see the (Switch).

    4. In PowerShell: "Get-HNSNetwork" shows, if activ, the IP adress of the virtual network. Seems to always start with 127.xxx.xxx.xxx Something else than 127.0.0.1 localhost. (I have, bye the way, never had Dockers installed). Gives
    a lot of information. I removed it in PS "Get-HNSNetwork | Remove-HNSNetwork"
and checked it again with "Get-HNSNetwork" that it was empty. At my first attemp it started up again after a short time but it may depend in what order I did these points.

    5. In the Register I deleted the SwitchList and the under tcpip the virtual IP addresses but I don't think it made any difference. At least the SwitchList is back again.

I did a quick Reboot before something would start it up again and succeeded. At least after some Reboot there are no more Virtual Hyper-V adapters AND THE VIRTUAL DISK IS GONE! But I haven't had any update yet ...! I don't know if I will get any other problems
    not seen yet.

The remaining problem that I can live with is; There are some Errors and Warnings and Informations in the Event Viewer about Hyper-V-VmSwitch etc. What is the source that wants to start the Virtual Network??? Windows Sandbox, Hyper-V, Containers are all
unchecked and no VM and other Sandboxes are installed.

Seems to be something in the Register I have to remove.
