  1. Cannot pin files to a Start menu tile in Windows 10

I have always been able to pin my choice of most used files to tiles e.g. workbooks to the Excel tile on the Start menu and documents to the Word tile on the Start menu. This stopped working and now the tiles show only my most recently opened files in the tile list and whilst a pin appears, clicking the pin has not effect.Presumably something has changed my registry settings. Can you advise how I can get this function working again please.

    :)

Only "pin to start" (as a tile) and not "pin to start menu"?

It does not work like this. You have to shift + right click the corresponding exe file or a shortcut in Windows Explorer to get the "pin to start lis" option. But be aware that even though you can choose to pin a certain program to the start list there is no guarantee that it actually works. On my system it does not work for most programs, i've only been able to add a handful of them. The only thing that does work ist "pin to start" which adds them to thw right side of the sart menu as a tile.

Seriously,I hope this is a bug. Because a start menu that does not let you add your own programs is worthless. If I'm forced to use tiles I will be better off using the start screen.

  3. Phone tile is missing from the Start Menu.

Original Title: Microsoft Lumina 640 start tile

Last Friday 10th June my Lumina 640 phone updated to the latest Windows 10.

When it restarted the phone tile had disappeared from the start menu.

When I tried to re-pin to start from the list of apps by holding down the app the "Pin to Start" function was grey suggesting that the app was already pinned.

I have unpinned all the start tiles in an effort to find the phone tile but to no avail

Please advise how I can restore the missing phone tile
