Windows 10: Cannot Pin Second Account-Specific Chrome Icon to Taskbar

I am having a problem trying to pin multiple account-specific chrome shortcuts to my taskbar in Windows 11.I have gone through the steps of going to "Customize my Chrome Profile" and making sure the "Create desktop shortcut" is turned on see Screenshot 1 below. With this being done I now have two desktop shortcuts which work as intended - they open to the specific google account see Screenshot 2 below. Now before continuing I have made sure to unpin all chrome shortcuts from the taskbar and close all open chrome applications see Screenshot 3 below. I then open each chrome window using th

Performance of Pinned Chrome Icon in Taskbar


I just reinstalled Windows 10, and Chrome's behavior has changed. Previously, when I clicked on the pinned Chrome icon in the taskbar and a Chrome tab opened, the original pinned icon was the only Chrome icon on the taskbar; and if I clicked on that original icon, I returned to the last open Chrome tab. Now when I click on the pinned Chrome icon a second Chrome icon opens at the end of the taskbar; and if I click on the original pinned Chrome icon an entirely new Chrome window opens. I have posted this issue previously, and the only solution I have received is to move the new Chrome icon into one of the first 10 spots on the Taskbar so it then responds to a Win-Key + number keyboard shortcut. However, not all my pinned programs in the taskbar react like Chrome does. Some do not open a second icon on the taskbar and continue to connect to the instance of the program I have already opened. Anyone have any suggestions or ideas?

Taskbar pin user icons... for Chrome

I can't tell if this is a Windows or Chrome issue, but I'm trying to get my primary Chrome profile pinned to the taskbar to show its avatar when its window is closed, and open again to that profile when I click the icon. I have multiple profiles in Chrome, which each open in their own window, and they all show their avatars in their taskbar icons while closed, and re-open to that profile when opened. It seems it only doesn't work if I pin the primary account profile window to the taskbar.

Also, clicking the primary profile to the taskbar has an odd feature where if I open that icon again (while closed), it'll just open the last-closed profile window, even if it's already pinned as another icon showing that account's avatar. If I go into profile settings (clicking my Google avatar at the top right on the same line as the address bar, then clicking the gear icon next to "Other profiles"), which opens the "Who's using Chrome?" window, and then enable the "Show on startup" checkbox, that primary account taskbar icon button will always open to that, just adding clicks only for the primary account to open.

The current behavior is nonsensical and counter-intuitive and obnoxious. I typically want to open my primary account from there, and these secondary accounts I don't open as often. The sensible behavior is that the closed taskbar icon for the primary account will also show its Google avatar, and clicking it opens that profile. I've tried some online solutions but so far have not gotten sensible behavior to work yet. Have you gotten this to work out sensibly?
