Windows 10: Cannot Play CD

I don’t know if this is the correct topic, but I cannot play my CD on my laptop. When I press the eject button to open the tray, nothing happens I have opened it in the past with no problems. I had to use a paper clip to open the tray and put in my disc. It does not automatically start playing even though I turned on AutoPlay. When I downloaded a media playing app, it did not register that there was a disc in the laptop at all. How can I play my CD?

I cannot play a CD.

How do I "associate" the program that is supposed to be attached to my D drive (for CD's). I cannot play a CD. It was working and I "ripped" a CD and now that list of CD's won't go away in the program -- D drive is not reading (??)

 

CD plays one disc incorrectly

For us to isolate the issue, we would like to clarify if you were referring to another computer when you said
"The CD plays fine elsewhere so it is OK." on your first post. If so, is it both running Windows 10 version?

To identify the exact reason why the issue is happening, we suggest playing the disc manually using the steps below:

• Type File Explorer on Cortana/Search bar, then click it.
  
• On the File Explorer window, click This PC.
• Right-click on the CD drive then, click Open.
  
  
• The music files will show up, choose a certain music to play.

Let us know if the music will respond accordingly.

 

Cannot play CD/DVD player.

I would suggest that you check if the CD/DVD file is supported by your player. If it is then I would like to suggest that you un-install and re-install the CD/DVD driver and check if the same issue persist. To do so follow the steps mentioned below:

• Click on the Start button, and type “Device Manager” on the search bar.
• Open Device Manager, expand "CD/DVD ROM”
• Find and double-click the driver from the left panel to uninstall.
• Right-click the driver and click Uninstall.
• Windows will prompt you to confirm the device’s removal. Click
  OK to remove the driver.
• After the uninstallation is complete, reboot your computer.
• After you have successfully uninstalled the driver, please go to the computer manufacturer’s website, download the Windows 10 driver for your computer and check.
