Windows 10: Cannot remove encryption from D Partition in Windows 10

Hello all,I have a weird situation here. I initially had a single drive C in This PC with Windows 10. I upgraded it to Windows 11. Then I created a new partition -> D. Later I wanted to roll back to Windows 10 and since that option was not available in the Settings, I did a Clean Install using a Pen drive. While installing I was asked to choose the partition where I want to install Windows 10. I tried choosing the C partition, but it was encrypted so I could not choose that. I went with the D partition thinking that Everything would be wiped from C drive and only D will have the Win 10 fi

I have upgraded to Windows 10 Home from Windows 7 Premium Home (64bit). I now have a partition 'Recovery D' that contains the data to reinstall Windows 7 OS and all HP supplied software(Back to factory).
Is it safe to remove the partition and free up space on the C drive using 'Mini Tool", which is suggested for other solutions(never used the program)?
I have captured an image of the entire computer drive.

Removal of D: partition

You can delete oem recovery partitions usually 5+GB.

Do not delete the much smaller windows 10 recovery partition (usually around 450MB). If you do, it is not critical, but means you will not be able to reset your pc from windows and you would have to d a full reinstall (tbh this is preferable really anyway).

 

W7 Hard drive partition issue

to get rid of that 100 meg windows partition that setup creates for you on a new install on a blank hdd:

- press shift+f10 when on the partition management screen in setup <-- this opens a command prompt
- diskpart <-- start the windows command line partition management tool
- list disk <--- list the installed hdds in this computer for the next step
- select disk 0 <- might have to replace 0 with the number of the correct disk
- clean <-- this will erase all data on the disk you selected one step up- dont use the wrong disk!
- create partition primary <- creates a primary partition taking up all space on the drive, adjust the command if necessary
- exit, exit to exit diskpart and the command prompt
- click refresh in partition manager and select your newly created partition and install to that
