Windows 10: Cannot rename a directory with an illegal name on OneDrive.

Good day. I was trying to upload the contents of a disc to OneDrive and I hit a snag: one of the folders I was trying to upload had a name with a colon : in the name. Here it is OneDrive:The file name is invalid because I originally used this NTFS disc from a Linux system and I was fairly lazy about sanitizing file names.So, as would be expected, OneDrive uploader complains about the file name and even gives me a button to automatically rename it! Notice on the second image it seems to think that the folder is called " PEACE" rather than "THINK: PEACE".So I click the "Rename" button and this

Unable to rename/delete folder in OneDrive that has name problems

Hi all,

I recently allowed the Windows update to v1903 and all looked OK, except I know have a c:\users\xxxxx.000 directory (where xxxxx is the user name). Anyway, while trying to ensure everything was OK with OneDrive, somehow I managed to create a directory call
"desktop " - with a space at the end - in the OneDrive folder list.

Now I receive a OneDrive sync error saying that this folder contains characters not allowed. When I try to rename it, I receive a message in explorer saying that the item doesn't exist. Similar message if I try through a command line. Note that the folder
hasn't sync'd so it is on my laptop only.





Suggestions on how to remove the folder? Short of rebuilding the PC!

File Manager will NOT create Directory Names or Rename a Directory

8. The File Manager will NOT create Directory Names

Nor will it Rename a Directory

It works Making Files, and Renaming them - just Not Directories.

I even used the Clean Manager on all unimportant files,

then Optimized (Defrag) the file structure, and Shutdown the system,

then Rebooted the system from cold. No Good. Still Failing.

The Windows Defender is up to date - Today.

No known issues were reported there.

Directory Size Utility

First of all nice utility, Mindweaver!
Second of all, it's so nice to see that this section ain't dead.

I have a few questions/suggestions, maybe you'd want to see ...

• maybe you rename Get Folder button caption to something more intuitive? Add Folder, Get Folder Size, Check Folder Size or something like that?
  
• Could you add subfolder files to the right pane? (it can be a tickbox with include sub dirs)
  
• maybe you also add export list to excel?
  
• there's delete file button maybe you add delete folder button too?
  
• and finally maybe you can add UP button for directories?
