  1. Cannot rename folder or file by clicking after updated to kb4041994

    Dear all,

I am using windows 10 64 bit. I found I cannot rename folder or file by clicking or right-clicking after updated to kb4041994. It doesn't give any response if I try to rename. I can only rename the files on my "Desktop", but cannot on other drives. Is there anyway to resolve this issue? Thanks.

I cannot rename files and folders within certain folders

I'm not certain when exactly this started happening (I only noticed it after updating to the Fall Creators Update), but I
cannot rename files or folders within certain folders. I can freely rename them when they are on the desktop, for example, but not when they are within the Documents folder or Downloads folder. I have tried double-clicking (with a delay in
between) as well as right-clicking and using the "Rename" function. Neither works.

What's even weirder is: Let's take the Documents Folder as an example. I mentioned that I can't rename anything within that folder, but only when I access that folder through the
Quick Access section. If I access it through the Libraries section, then I can rename.

  3. Cant rename files and folders in the Backup & Sync folder

This is happening after I installed Windows 10 creators update 1709.I cant rename files and folders present in Backup & Sync folder elsewhere it is working fine. Now to rename files and folder I have to click properties and then edit file name in the text
box field. How to re-enable rename function either by pressing F2 or just by clicking on file name for my backup & sync folder?

Can you rename files located at C: partition?

Uninstall the kb4041994 update and see if issue resolves.

Open the Command Prompt as a administrator by typing cmd.exe into Start Menu and right click cmd.exe, select Open as administrator.

Execute following command to uninstall kb4041994 update.

    Code: wusa /uninstall /kb:4041994[/quote]

  5. No, I can only rename the files on my "Desktop". Also, I found I can rename some subfolders on Drive E, but not on Drive C or Drive D. This update, kb4041994, caused me reinstall wireless adapter driver several times to succeed. I think this update is not compatible with some Win10 64 bit. Can anyone help with my issue? Thanks.

  6. Also, I tried your suggestion a couple of times. Unfortunately, it didn't work.

  9. Yes, I just contacted MS Customer Service, it showed that this update corrupted some features of the current user. I created a new account and transferred all of my files to the new account. Now is working. Thanks.

No. First seen by Insiders, but it's gone mainstream now and others are seeing it (and having problems) too.
