Windows 10: Cannot reset Internet Explorer on Windows 10

Hello, everyone


I hope someone can help me with the issue I am experiencing on my Windows 10 1902.


To my amazement Quicken requires Internet Explorer to be installed on the system. I installed/enabled it through Optional Features.


However, when I double-click on Internet Explorer icon, it does not come up without showing any errors. I removed and added IE several times, but it still does not come up. So, I tried to reset IE by using Internet Options. I used the procedure described in this article: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/troubleshoot/browsers/how-to-repair-or-reinstall-ie, via Advanced Settings. However, when I click on Reset, the reset procedure fails to reset IE. What can I do to reset it? How can I troubleshoot further?

Microsoft Internet Explorer renamed to Windows Internet Explorer ?




Since version 7 of the world`s most popular web browser - Microsoft Internet Explorer was silently renamed to Windows Internet Explorer.Such a step from Microsoft is not a surprise since Internet Explorer is part of the Windows operation system for a long time.Obviously Microsoft corp. wants to state that Internet Explorer is already considered as a part of Windows and not as an external browser (remember the IE and WMP law issues last year!?).

• Click View in the ribbon.
• Click Options.
• Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
• Click OK
