    Hi there

Must depend on the device -- I've connected my USB3 device Via a SATA--->USB3 connector plugged in to a USB3 port on the computer.

Shows up as screenshot shown below.

    Cheers

  3. Just checked with a couple of devices (this is win 8.1 though)

External drive I just get as my above screenshot
USB thumb drive I get additional write cache options

so options do vary quite a bit depending upon device

    Cannot Safely Remove External Drives

Well for my USB 3.0 UASP drive I get the options for Quick Removal or Best Performance/Write cache. It is just that "Savely Remove" doesn't work for the "Best Performance" which is what it is meant for. This is windows 10.

You won't see the options through the Disk Manager. You will only see it through the device manager and selecting properties for the disk there.

    Hi there

My screenshot shows device manager -- I don't get any "performance" type options --just the shot I showed above.

Perhaps on USB3 devices the whole system is different.

    Cheers

  8. Cannot Safely Remove External Drives

Open Device Manager, find "disk drives" and your "external drive" in the list of devices, uninstall the driver for your hard drive and then you can safely remove it. The device driver for your external drive "SHOULD" reinstall automatically next time you want to use the drive.

Thank you!!! Confirmed. I have never been able to safely eject my WD My Passport Ultra external drive, ever since I upgraded to Windows 10. This solved the problem. And now it can be safely removed.
