    Cannot separate Microsoft account from my local PC account


    My brother recently used his Microsoft account on my PC, which until then only had a local account. I wanted to remove it earlier, but there was no option to do so. I've so far come to understand that this Microsoft account is now tied to my local account and I cannot remove it without making a new user on this PC which i don't wanna do since moving appdata and all my settings is annoying.

    I eventually found something that I thought worked: I deleted the key with my brothers microsoft account from HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT\Software\Microsoft\IdentityCRL\StoredIdentities.When I checked account settings, my account was listed as a local account. But his Microsoft account is still listed under "Accounts used by other apps" and when I change my account's profile pic, his microsoft account changes it as well, so they are obviously still tied together.

    I don't get how this issue is still not fixed, since problem reports like that occurred like 3 years ago. Does anyone know how to fix this mess?

    register PC with microsoft; use local account to log in

    Just simply log in with your Microsoft Account.
    Switch to Microsoft Account in Windows 10

    Just go back to using a local account:
    Switch to Local Account in Windows 10

    Hopefully the tutorials are step by step enough.

    Go to https://account.microsoft.com, click Create account and fill the form:

    With a Microsoft account you can then use OneDrive and Office Online apps for free. You can also use built-in native Windows apps which require a Microsoft account like Mail, Skype Preview, People, Calendar and download apps from Windows Store.

    I'm fairly certain that Skip this step was available in 10.0.130 - the workaround in Step 20 (back button) is no longer required.

    The currently known, as of 10.0.130, ways to create a Local account sign-in are
    • Skip this step at the MS account creation phase
    • No Internet connection during the install
    • static IP (post# 2 by Fragment) - New (to me anyway)
