Windows 10: Cannot set broadband connection to metered

For some reason when using my phone for cellular I cannot enable metered connection on it like I used to be able to in windows 10 I tried changing it in the registry and that did not work either. I'm quite frustrated because microsoft edge just HAD to update and ruin my day and I cannot set this to metered connection like ethernet/wifi shown in the second pictureWhat can I do to fix this?

Can't Set USB Mobile Broadband Adapter As Metered

Sorry, that's no help because there is no place to set the connection as a metered connection.

To quote from the Microsoft article on Metered Internet connections: FAQ :

Note

• 
  Ethernet network connections can't be set to metered.
  

Therefore, because the USB Mobile Broadband adapters are installed as Ethernet adapters, it is not possible to set them as metered connections.

This true even with a USB Mobile Broadband adapter that uses the generic Microsoft "Remote NDIS based Internet Sharing Device" driver.

You may follow the below steps if you are using a Wi-Fi connection from any mobile data device:

• Go to Start menu > Settings > Network & Internet > Wi-Fi > Advanced options.
• Under Metered connection, you can toggle Set as metered connection to Off.

Removing Metered Connection Settings with Mobile Broadband

My internet comes from a Mobile Broadband service and I wish to turn OFF the metered connection settings.

This setting causes certain programs including Microsoft Outlook 2016 to work offline. Very frustrating when trying to run a business. I have a large data allowance and this is the only form of internet
available.

How do I change the settings for a metered network for mobile broadband? I wish to remove the metered network setting for my mobile connection.

Microsoft please provide a fix for this problem immediately. A large amount of people now use mobile connections for internet and we should be allowed to choose this option instead of it being a default.

If there is no fix I would request Microsoft facilitate a refund and downgrade back to Windows 7.
