Windows 10: Cannot set new desktop wallpaper in Windows 11

Discus and support Cannot set new desktop wallpaper in Windows 11 in Windows 10 Software and Apps to solve the problem; HiI've seen this issue covered elsewhere, but none of the solutions work for me.     Cannot set new desktop wallpaper in Windows 11


    HiI've seen this issue covered elsewhere, but none of the solutions work for me. I am on the latest version of Windows 11 with the Moment 3 update.When I set a new wallpaper on the desktop, it changes to solid black. If I go into settings for the desktop background, it has changed the option to a solid colour. I can set the most recent pictures as a background, but not a new one. Whenever I do, the desktop changes to solid black.I've done:- An SCF and DISM - all ok.- Deleted C:User/AppData/Roaming/Microsoft/Windows/Themes and rebooted the PC- Turned off Remember my preferences in Settings.

    Desktop wallpaper for new users

    Hi Alaa,

    Setting default users lets you specify the wallpaper on user's desktops and prevents other users from changing the image or its presentation. You can check these steps on how to set wallpapers from all users:

    • Type run on the search bar and press Enter.
    • On the window, type gpedit.msc and click OK.
    • Locate and click Administrative Templates.
    • Select Desktop > Desktop > Desktop Wallpaper.
    • Tick Enabled, and name your wallpaper.
    • Select Apply and click OK.

    After performing the steps above, you may restart your PC.

    Can't set different wallpaper on a dual monitor setup.

    Okay I had the same problem so can you report the bug for me since my PC doesn't let me but basically with windows 11 you can change the wallpaper for each desktop but for some reason you can't change the the monitor wallpaper unless you get rid of all the desktops then you have the option to change per monitor.

    Steps to fix

    1. Windows button + TAB
    2. get rid of all the desktops at the bottom of the screen but 1
    3. go to your background setting, right click on a picture and wala it now says monitor instead of Desktop
    Please report it for me and replay to me if it works.
