    Cannot setup sound card as a sound source


    I have purchased Dell Inspiron 3030 and trying to setup the sound card as a sound source. Recording from microphone works without any problems but I want to record sound directly from sound card to keep the highest possible quality. On all other computers I have been selecting Stereo Mix as a recording device but on this laptop it is not available. On this new desktop on Recording tab I can see Headset Microphone, Headset and Microphone. There is nothing under hidden devices. In Device Manager the following is displayed underAudio inputs and OutputsDELL U2722D NVIDIA High Definition AudioMic

    Sound Card Recommendation

    Hi guys, I buried this question in another thread of mine where people probably missed it since I didn't get a reply to it.

    I am looking for a 5.1 (Or 7.1 if the feature set is better, but I am not planning on a 7.1 speaker setup) sound card (PCI, I don't want to occupy PCI-E slots with it) that will be a few steps above what my DFI DK X58-TH3eH6 offers.

    Base the suggestion on a USA price of around 100-120$ or cheaper.

    Local suggestions here pointed to the M-AUDIO Revolution 5.1, but I am really not an expert on sound and I could use some pointers. The speaker setup is (probably going to be) the Logitech Z-5500 and the main use of the card will be gaming, music and movies/anime.

    Sound Quality

    One thing that sticks out from looking at your "My Computer" specs. You list "ONBOARD 6 CHANNEL (5.1) HIGH DEF AUDIO (AS STANDARD)" which suggests you do not have the correct sound hardware driver. Your motherboard has Realtek sound and the first step is to install the Realtek sound drivers. My ASUS also came with Sonic Studio 2 which is a sound enhancement package. Check the ASUS install disc to see if you have something similar.

    May not be a speaker problem.
