Windows 10: Cannot sign in due to verification code not being sent

I am struggling with login issues on my account, but they only affect desktop applications. Specifically, I am unable to login to the xbox app, microsoft store, minecraft, and in addition to this I get a little dot on my profile picture in the start bar saying there is an issue with logging in to my microsoft account on my computer. Whenever I try to log in, a window opens up saying "Because you're accessing sensitive info, we'll send a a code to [my microsoft email] to verify your identity". However, no such code is being sent. The email adress is correct and there is nothing in the spam fold
