    Cannot stream to TV on Windows 11


    Currently rolling out Windows 11 and have run into a problem with streaming to a Samsung 7 Series TV. It works fine and several different laptops can stream to it - all on Windows 10.Our new laptops on Windows 11 cannot, the TV shows in the Win+K menu, says connecting, the TV asks for approval the first time per laptop which we approve but then it disconnects and Windows says there was an error connecting.We know the TV is fine.We have tried:1 Allowing cast to device through Windows Defender firewall.2 Turning on network discovery and file and printer sharing.3 Confirmed all drivers are up

    Unable to stream to a Smart TV

    Hi,

    Thank you for writing to Microsoft Community Forums.

    We understand the difficulties, as you are unable to stream your PC or mobile to your smart TV.
    In order to get clarity and to assist you accordingly, please reply with the answers to the questions below.

    • What is the model number of the Smart TV?
    • How are you streaming the devices to your smart TV? (Miracast/Chromecast)
    • Are you aware of any recent changes, prior to this issue?
    • What happens when you try to stream the device, is there any error message?

    Meanwhile, we would suggest you to update the drivers for Bluetooth and Network Adapter drivers from device manager. Please refer this article to

    You may also, check with the
    Element TV support     team regarding this issue.

    Stream a DVD from PC to Smart TV

    Hi Greg,

    Thanks for your Patience.

    Following are the points determined by the escalation team:

    • The Windows 10 DVD Player app does not natively support media streaming by design.
    • The only way the DVD can be "streamed" wirelessly to a TV is through connecting the TV as a wireless display.
    • The only way this is possible is if the TV supports Miracast. If the TV is not Miracast-enabled, the user will not be able to stream DVD's.
    Mira cast is a streaming protocol that lets users mirror content from their Windows PCs/Mobiles to their TV screens.

    If your TV is Miracast enabled, Please follow the below steps to cast a DVD to a Miracast-compatible TV:

    1. Open the Action Center by clicking on the notification icon next to the date and time in the lower right hand corner of the screen.

    2. Click on the Connect tile.

    3. The computer will now search for Miracast-enabled displays.

    4. If a Miracast-enabled device is in range, it will show up on the list, click to connect.

    5. The computer should now be casting the screen to TV.

    6. Open the Windows DVD Player app and load a DVD into the disk drive.

    7. The app should now auto-recognize the DVD and it should begin playing.

    Media Streaming via DLNA to a Sharp Smart Tv

    1. Have you tried streaming through a different PC?
    2. Are you trying to stream the content through an external hard drive?


    Since you are able to connect the PC to the TV, I suggest you to copy the files to a USB and connect it to the TV to check if you are able to play the files or not.
