    With Windows 10 it was very easy to transfer files to and from my Android devices with a PC using a USB cable and File Explorer. I just moved to Windows 11, and this method of file transfer no longer works. Apparently I need to change on my Android cell phone "USB controlled by" from "This device [Android cell phone]" to "Connected device [PC]". But when I try to change this setting, I get a message "Couldn't switch" on my cell phone. I have tried multiple Android devices, and get the same message. This was never a problem with Windows 10, so I believe this to be an 11 problem.Please do not ad

    No. That is totally unnecessary. @NavyLCDR in his post did not show all the steps. Here is what he left out...

    Connect the phone to the PC with a USB cable
    On the phone swipe down from the top to show notifications
    Locate the USB notification and open it

    In the USB settings make sure Transferring files is selected.

    Look for your phone in File Explorer

    If you you double-click on it and nothing is shown that means you forgot to unlock the phone's screen

    After you unlock the phone's screen the phone's storage will be shown

    Double-click on the storage will show the contents. The phone's photos and screenshots will be in the DCIM folder.

    How to transfer files/pics from android phone to PC via BT?

    When you connect your phone via USB, you need to go to USB Settings on your phone and select Transferring files:

    Then your device will appear in Windows File Explorer and you can access files on the phone:

    follow these steps

    1. Connect your Android device to your PC using your USB cable.

    2.Your device may ask what kind of connection to open. Select "Transfer Files (MTP)".

    3.Now you can open Windows File Explorer on your computer.

    4.Click your phone from the list on the left.

    5.Browse and select files to transfer.

    6.Right-click > Copy. Or click "Copy To..." in the tool bar.
