Windows 10: Cannot Update or Uninstall Visual C++ 2015-2022 redist

I want to update to the latest version of Visual C++ 2015-2022, but I get a generic error message when attempting to update. Windows 10 1703 Cannot uninstall Visual Studio 2015 C++ Redist x64

So good news bad news....
Geek Uninstaller would not uninstall Visual Studio C++ 2015 redist because it doesn't see it as being there.
This lead me on to more reading and research. It would seem and I don't know if this is a bug or by design. If Visual C++ Redist 2017 is on the box it will not let you install the x64 version of the 2015 Redist. I don't know if they share some files or like I said if its a bug. I uninstalled the 2017 redist and 2015 installed no problem.

Eagle DDU seems to have fixed the amdihk64 error message I was getting...thank you

Resident Evil 7 now works not sure if it is due to the cleanup of the amd drivers or if it was because of getting 2015 back on.

Gears 4 still doesn't work....splash screen and crash...May be due to not installing an actual amd driver package. There is a part of me that is hesitant.

Work in IT all these years and would love to see the day when video drivers do not become an issue.

Anyone have a all around suggested version of the AMD Crimson Reds for 480's

Cannot install Microsoft Visual C++ 2015-2022

I was able to fix this in quite a few computers by doing the following:

1. First make sure all VC++ redistributable packages from 2015 onwards were uninstalled.
   
2. Open "regedit" and navigate to "Computer\HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Installer\Products"
   
   1. Search within all the child keys that have a product name of "Microsoft Visual C++ 2015...", "Microsoft Visual C++ 2019...", "Microsoft Visual C++ 2022...", etc.
      
   2. If you are having trouble with just the x64 version then you don't need to uninstall the x86 and its registry keys.
      
3. Try to install it again, it should work.
   

 

Microsoft Visual C++ Redist

Hello,

1. Sometime ago I had virus attach and had to uninstall some programs. During the uninstallation along with the program, many of the Microsoft Visual C++ Redist were deleted. I now only have Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Redist alone. My system has been performing
very slowly. Is there any way to determine which of the Microsoft Visual C++ files are required to optimize the performance?

2. Also when I shut down or restart my system, the following error shows up: "The application was unable to start correctly (0xc0150002). Click OK to close the application"

Could you please help me with these problems? I am not tech savy so step by step process would be very helpful.
