Windows 10: Cannot update Windows 10

Hello, I've had an error message appearing in Windows Update for several weeks which I can't resolve.


"Your device is missing important security and quality fixes."

Clicking "Check for Updates" has the little wheel spin for a while, and then nothing happens.



I've trawled through many threads for advice, and tried the steps listed here (which are duplicated in many other places):

No effect, apart from deleting my update history. Downloading the latest update from Windows Update Catalog (KB4509475) resulted in the message, "This update is not applicable to your computer."


I'm really not sure what the problem is or what to do next. Any help or advice is appreciated. Please note that due to a separate issue, I'm not able to roll back to a backup from before the last update and try again.

Windows 10 Tweaks

Pressing “Windows+Pause Break” (it’s up there next to scroll lock) opens the “System” Window.

Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

• Open a new Explorer window.
• Click View in the ribbon.
• Click Options.
• Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
• Click OK

Well just noticed a pretty large one pop up coming in at 914MB, seems it makes some pretty serous updates.
