Windows 10: Cannot upgrade from Win 8.1 Pro to Windows 10

Hi everyone,

My current Windows is 8.1 Pro. I am trying to upgrade to Windows 10 but I got the problem.

Win 8.0 to Win 10 without installing Win 8.1

Hello!

Is it possible to upgrade to Windows 10 directly from Windows 8.0 Pro?

I have two laptops - one is Win 8.1 (already got the reservation via Get Windows 10 app) and, this one, Win 8.0 Pro. I want to upgrade both. Due to several reasons, I cannot upgrade my Win 8.0 Pro to Win 8.1 Pro - something to do with my Windows Update which,
I think, is the reason for not getting Win 8.1 upgrade.

Now, back to the question, can I upgrade my Win 8.0 Pro to Win 10 Pro directly? If so, what are my options? Follow up, will Win 8.0 Pro license carry over to Win 10?

P.S.: I think the reason why my Win 8.0 Pro cannot upgrade to 8.1 Pro because of some system errors - I haven't been using the old laptop ever since I got the second one. Updating my Win 8.0 Pro with the latest updates somehow disables me from connecting to
my home internet connection (I created a system restore point for this reason)

 

Upgrading to Win10 from Win8 Pro

Hello. I am currently on the TP of Windows 10 , but through a mistake of mine I am upgrading on the Enterprise version instead of on the Pro, and as a result of that I cannot activate my Windows 10. My question is the following. Since I already have a key
for the Windows 8 Pro version, can I use the Media Creation Tool to downgrade to Win 8.1 Pro (my PC upgraded automatically from Win 8 to 8.1, so I don t have a key for 8.1- I guess the Win8 Pro key is sufficient) and then upgrade to and activate Windows 10
Pro?

Welcome to the forums, you could try updating yourself using this tutorial:Windows 10 - Upgrade Installation - Windows 10 Forums

 

It seems that the compatibility checker is finding an onboard graphics device that may not have drivers for Win 10. I'm not familiar with it, but it appears to be one not commonly used is desktop PCs.

You can probably complete the upgrade using one of the methods in the tutorial in the link in Post 2. Choose a method other than the Windows Update one.
