Windows 10: Cannot upgrade to Windows 10 1909 or NIC fails erratically

Shortly after upgrading my system to build 1909 about 2 weeks ago I started having very odd issues with my onboard Intel L217-V NIC. System is custom built, Asus Z87-PRO motherboard, Intel 4770K CPU, 16GB memory, 2070 RTX nVidia. No overclocking, nothing crazy. My system overall remains functional during this issue, but full network connectivity to anything local or online failure occurs. Network card icon becomes globe icon in taskbar or at lock screen if system locked stating no network connectivity. When I look at the NIC itself in the device manager or LAN Properties, it looks normal, no yellow icons or anything else concerning. Card says it's functional. No event logs thrown, but time-sync failures start occurring obviously. It maintains it's IP, but no connectivity is possible. Soft shutdown / restart hangs system indefinitely, for hours. I did this at night once, just to see if it would eventually restart, and it was still trying to restart in the morning when I woke up. Only way to get network connectivity back is to hard shut down PC and it may work for 10 minutes or 2 hours once it reboots...but eventually, for no apparent reason it just stops functioning until I hard restart it again. I work in I.T. for a living, so I ran the gamut of tests, latest windows updates, old and new NIC drivers, all the way back to the original motherboard NIC driver from 2015 to the latest from Intel. No different...network failures wildly all over the place in minutes or hours later.


As soon as I uninstalled 1909 update and reverted back to 1903....all problems went away. System has been rock solid now for just over a week. All working normally.


Oddly enough, my parents AMD system with a realtek NIC literally had the same exact problem I was having. I mean down to the exact symptoms. I did all the same things, no better.....I reverted back to 1903....fixed and their system is not dropping connections anymore.


Something for sure is screwing with certain NICs in the latest 1909 builds.

Upgrading to Windows 10 from windows 7 and losing internet connection

When trying to search for a driver on that motherboard, it doesn't say Windows 10 on it. My suggestion would be to get a NIC card of some sort that is known to work with the OS (most).

 

Windows 10 upgrade problem, no input accepted

I really hate having to come here and ask for help, but I really am stumped. It hurts my geek pride. I have a PC with fairly modern hardware in it. It has a p8p67 pro in it. I have tried upgrading windows 10 on it twice now. Both times I have had the same result.

After windows finishes upgrading it goes to the log in/set up screen. I can't do anything. No keyboard or mouse input is accepted.

I will list some, or hopefully all, of the troubleshooting steps I have tried:

• Move keyboard and mouse to different USB ports.
• Try different keyboard or mouse.
• Restart computer, repeatedly.
• Google for related issues.
• Update Bios, because why not.
• Create boot media and revert to windows 7.

The windows 10 system restore boot media works fine with keyboard and mouse. All USB ports work in windows 7. I don't know what is wrong. I suspect that windows 10 is lacking a driver of some sort, but since the computer accepts no input I have no way of checking for which driver let alone installing it.

Please help me figure this out. If I have to revert back to windows 7 again, I am not going to get it upgraded to windows 10. Thank you in advanced.

 

Windows 10 1909 Causes Secondary Hard Drive to not be Recognized

Installing the Windows 10 1909 Update causes my secondary hard drive to not be recognized.

Steps to confirm issue:

• Secondary drive not visible in Windows Explorer
• Secondary drive not visible in device manager
• Secondary drive not visible in disk manager

Steps to replicate issue:

• Installing 1909 update

Steps to resolve issue:

• Uninstall 1909 update

Since updates can only be delayed for so long, an actual fix would be appreciated.
