Windows 10: Cannot use camera or microphone

Hey all,This forum has helped me greatly in the past, and I hope you can help me with this. Recently both my PC and laptop did the latest Windows 10 update. Ever since, I cannot use facetime, or any other program, site, or app on either my PC or Laptop with my microphone or camera. My PC doesn't have a camera, my laptop does. But neither will recognize the microphone as well. I have tried every thing to fix this. All of my permissions are set to allow access to both, my laptop recognizes my camera in control panel and device manager, both laptop and PC are set to allow microphone access, on si

Camera and Microphone Privacy

This issue occurs due to permission issue, driver issue, license for an app is out of sync with the license installed on the computer or if the app is not updated. To give permission to Camera and Microphone app, you may follow
these steps:

• Go to Settings.
• Select Privacy.
• Look for Camera, make sure that “Let apps use my camera” is turned On. You may choose the apps that can use your camera as well.
• Go back to Privacy and select Microphone, make sure that “Let apps use my microphone” is turned On. You may choose the apps that can use your microphone as well.

Configurating Cameras and Microphones

How do I change settings for and uninstall cameras and other such camera things? (Windows 10 is impossible and everything changes faster than web instructions can keep up).

There is no "Cameras" listed in Settings.




But there is one listed in Control Panel




Of course, in Zoom (and other applications), there are three. Those "DroidCam" ones are a software app which allowed me to use my cell as a camera. There seems to be no way to turn them off without uninstalling the software. But there's also no way for me to configure them as the non-default.




Then, when we're done with that, I'll have the same question about choosing and configuring microphones. Whenever I search settings about microphones, all I get is Speech Setup. See, "speech" is not the same thing as setting up the hardware, but Microsoft doesn't seem to believe me about that.

 

Camera and microphone

I tried to use the camera to make a video - on Lenovo Ideapad 330S OS 10 - but the "microphone muted" message prevented the video to record.

I did the settings/privacy/microphone suggestion to no avail. I tried to get Cortana to turn on the mic but she cannot hear me. I did the steps to turn her on but she still can't hear me. Suggestions? thanks
