Windows 10: Cannot use Hyper-V Extensible Virtual Switch

Hey, new here. I wasn't sure if this should go in Network and Sharing or Programs and Apps, so I apologize if this is in the wrong category.

Anyways, while trying to set up a virtual switch I discover I need to install the 'Hyper-v Extensible Virtual Switch' network protocol to enable the virtual switch manager. I install the protocol and go to enable it to only to get this message:




Ok, fine, I'll play along. After everything was disabled I checked off the Extensible virtual switch only to get this:




Needless to say, I can't enable the virtual switch protocol what so ever. Anyone have any insight? Thanks in advance.

Installed Hyper-V on Windows 10 Pro, but can't make it work.

I am using Windows 10 Pro and understand that the two modes are different. I need to install and run an old, and expensive, program in Hyper-V that I ran successfully in Virtual XP Mode on my Windows 7 Ultimate
system. As far as I know the Hyper-V is now installed, but I need my original questions answered.

EDIT: I ran a Norton Diagnostic report and the problem seems to be an inoperable hardware device.

I have installed and reinstalled the virtual switch several times.

I wonder if there is a better forum or area to post this question?
