Windows 10: Cannot use the search box in Win 10 taskbar

After latest Win 10 update, I cannot type in the search box on the task bar. The box says "Type here to search", but clicking on the box does not enable the cursor in the box and typing has no effect.


This is a major problem, as the search box is a big productivity tool, in finding and starting apps.


I searched the Web for a solution, but rebuilding the search index did not help. Looks like the search box is displayed in the taskbar, but it is disabled.

This issue with search box may happen if it's hidden from the taskbar.

To resolve the issue, follow the steps below:

• Right-click on the taskbar and select Search.
• Select Show search box.

Please try the below and check if you can see search bar on taskbar:

Steps:

• Right click on Taskbar, move the mouse cursor on to
  Search option.
• Select Show Search icon (You will see Search icon beside Start)
• Select Show search bar (You will see Search bar beside Start)

Windows 10: how to restore search bar in the taskbar?

When I right click on Taskbar, there is no "Search" in the list.
