Windows 10: Cannot verify identity ask for pin that was never set.

A few years back I set up my mothering law laptop from new. WEcopied down and the user name and password. AND DID NOT SET A PIN.

From time to time BT force her to change her email password,no issues change the password then update in windows.

But this time we cannot update in windows.

She can login fine but then get apop up asking her “you need to verify your identity” and put her pin in.

WE did not set a pin and the onlypin it could we cannot enter as after the first two number it will not let usput any more number in.

We can click on the I forgot my pinand it tell now to change the pin.

It tell us to go to setting>Account>Sigin-inoptions but we cannot get there it laptop will put beep at us.

I have used the search bar to bringup the account screen, but we locked the same screen we need to verify youridentity.

So how can we fix this error then?

Asking to verify my identity

Hi,

I purchased a new laptop and its asking me to verify my identity.

My problem is my old laptop died, so I don't have access to the information I had re my microsoft account.

The time expired for me to verify and now I can't progress past "Verify your identity" (I am wanting to throw the computer out my window eek)

Verify your identity oln this PC

Being ask to verify my identity, since the last update - Creators Update - it no longer accept the remain letters for the email or the numbers for the mobile phone on the PC

As a result it no longer sync ...

Any suggestions?

 

“We need to verify your identity”,

I have a clean installation of Windows 10 Home (up to date). I get asked by Windows: “We need to verify your identity”, about 10 minutes after I turn on the laptop. Then I get asked that same question, on average every two hours, sometimes more,
sometimes less.



When I click on the “We need to verify your identity” message, it takes me to Settings / Accounts, there I click on “Verify” and enter my PIN. Then after a while it keeps asking me to do that again.



This has been happening for weeks. I have re-installed Windows on a completely clean, formatted C: partition each time. Same problem each time.
