  3. Can't play some .MOV videos

    Hi

    Welcome to Microsoft community.

The issue you're encountering with .MOV files in Windows 10, particularly the error code "0xc00d6d60" when trying to play certain .MOV videos with the Movies & TV app, suggests a codec problem. The .MOV format is a container that can use various codecs, and it's possible that the older videos from your Nikon E3200 use a codec that's no longer supported or not properly recognized by the current version of the Movies & TV app.

Here are several steps you can take to resolve this issue and play your .MOV videos:

One of the simplest solutions is to use a different media player that has broader codec support. VLC Media Player can handle a wide range of video formats, including older or less common codecs found in .MOV files.

    • VLC Media Player: You can download VLC. It's a free, open-source media player that supports many video formats and codecs.
If you prefer to continue using the Movies & TV app or another player that's encountering codec issues, installing a codec pack might help. The K-Lite Codec Pack is a popular choice that updates regularly and supports a wide range of video formats.

    • K-Lite Codec Pack: Available in different versions based on your needs, from Basic to Mega. You can download it from Download K-Lite Codec Pack.

If you have specific .MOV files that continue to be problematic, converting them to a different format (such as MP4) might be a solution. This can be done using video conversion software like HandBrake (free and open-source) or any other reliable video converter tool.

    • HandBrake: Use it to convert your .MOV files to a more compatible format like MP4, which should play without issues on most media players.
It's possible that an issue within the Movies & TV app itself is causing the problem. Try checking for updates in the Microsoft Store, or reset the app to its default settings:

    • Check for Updates: Open the Microsoft Store, click on the three dots at the top right, select "Downloads and updates", and then click "Get updates".
    • Reset the App: Go to Settings > Apps > Apps & features, find the Movies & TV app, select it, click "Advanced options", and then click "Reset".
Windows Media Player is another alternative that might handle .MOV files better, depending on the codecs installed on your system. While not the default player in Windows 10, it's still available and can be accessed by searching for it in the Start menu.

Please feel free to let me know how it goes.

    Best regards
