Windows 10: Canon MX430 printer installed but scanner not working

The Canon all in one prints fine but nothing happens when I try to scan.

Canon PIXMA MX472 All-in-One - Scanner did not install

Like the previous poster suggested, unplug the USB cable from the printer and turn off the printer.
Start the installation of the drivers, watch the install windows VERY CAREFULLY as there will be instructions as to when you need to plug the USB cable into the printer and turn the printer on.
I ran into this exact scenario when I installed my printer after a Windows 10 Pro install (1909).
The printer ran fine but when I tried to use the scanner, no dice...
Printer is Canon MG6820.

The only other thing I can suggest if that doesn't work is to turn your firewall off, turn off any anti-virus software, and then do the driver installation again following the install windows VERY CAREFULLY.
I had to do that step on a Windows 7 Pro PC in order for the scanner to work.

Canon MX 490 scanner only works with Canon installed software

Canon mx490, install the canon software 388mb downloaded from canon, scan works. under settings, NO SCANNER appears. So go to add scanner, it finds mx490 series, with description print fax scan, so click to install, BUT only adds a printer and fax, no scanner.

Tried multiple times to install so the builtin windows software can not work properly since it cant install a driver for the scanner.

 

After cumulative updates kb3147458 and kb3147461, canon mf4880dw wireless printer/scanner not working, cannot re-install

I ended up calling Canon, and they helped me to resolve this.

Since updates in Windows 10 sometimes mess with security settings, the installer which Canon provides sometimes cannot work when trying to install the printer over the network.

What you have to do is this:

to install printer/scanner Canon MF4880dw in windows 10

- get the latest Canon driver / installer from their website

- use the Canon installer to install SCANNER ONLY.

- install the MF Toolbox to use the scanner

- to install printer, go to control panel > devices and printers > add printer

- try to find it automatically

- if that fails, click "the printer I want wasn't listed"

- add a printer using a tcp/ip address or hostname

- enter the IP, and follow the steps

I hope this helps others who have been running into the same issue.
