Windows 10: Can't access 1TB external hard drive- the computer acknowledges it is there, but I cannot...

Hello! A few months ago, I bought a 1TB external hard drive for storage and it has been working without any problems until now. I have tried to access the contents only to find out that I cannot access them on File Explorer, or via a shortcut on my desktop.When I went to see if it just wasn't connected properly, I found out that while my laptop does recognize the hard drive the hard drive itself gives off a blue light if connected, I just can't access or modify it. I have been the only one that has been using it.Any help?

Why is it that windows 10 does not acknowledge my external hard drive?

It list it in the control panel, but will not open it up.

And when I look in file explorer, and go to this PC, it is not listed in devices.
