Windows 10: Can't access FTP with FTP folder error: Windows cannot access this folder.

My client would like to map their ftp folder for each user. When they try map or add a network location, they get FTP Folder Error: Windows cannot access this folder. I used to map FTP as a drive. It works on Windows 10. Now, I try both Windows 10 and 11, all of them get the same error. What could be the problem?

FTP Access IIS

I set up an FTP site using IIS to share files within my LAN. I have created a new user on the same PC as FTP site but when i try to access FTP folder from any device on the LAN using username and password of
my new user it refuses to let me in showing the following: Could not log in to the FTP server with the username and password specified.

Steps that I have gone through when setting up FTP:

• Created ftp folder and set up FTP server
• specified path to the folder
• did not use SSL
• specified IP
• Created new windows user and added this user to FTP authorisation Rules
• Excluded FTP from firewall
• Allowed new user access to the folder itself

Tried to access using both file directory and internet explorer

Did not enable port triggering in the router as was only planning to use FTP locally

I would highly appreciate your help

 

Can't access FTP folder on Windows

I'm trying to transfer some files from my PC to my Amazon firestick. On the firestick I downloaded ES File Explorer File Manager and activated the remote access. When I copy the ftp link on my web browser I get the "your internet access is blocked" error
and when trying to access it through the File Explorer I get an error saying "FTP Folder error. Windows cannot access this folder. Make sure you typed the file name correctly and that you have permission to access the folder. Details: A connection to the server
could not be established". I'm sure the name is correct. So why am I getting this error and how can I fix it?

I am experiencing the same issue after installing update Windows 10 Version 1709 (WIN10PRO). I installed this on December 8, 2017 and was editing a website that I had daily FTP access to via Dreamweaver 2018, Internet Explorer 11, Windows File Explorer
and FileZilla. After install, I am now DIW - Dead in the Water, I cannot access FTP with anything. I can't even access via DOS Command. I have disabled the firewall / anti-virus, reset the network, checked router blocking (NONE), rebooted router, checked
enable FTP folder view (outside of IE) and added allowed explorer.exe app to communicate through Windows Defender Firewall. The strange thing is I can access the same FTP on 3 other PCs that have NOT HAD THE UPDATE. I even reset the user name and password
of the FTP site with no joy. I also have another PC (WIN10PRO) that the same update was installed and I cannot access FTP with that PC as well. Another strange thing is that I was working on another website at the same time and I have no problem accessing
that FTP after the update.

Please let me know if you have any fixes or questions that might be helpful in resolving this issue.
