Windows 10: cant access my settings or use the windows search after installing an update

i recently installed an update and i have no clue which one it was, when i got on my computer after it finished i noticed that i couldnt open my settings or use the search feature. when i do try to open the settings it shows up then instantly closes, the search feature does not work at all and if i try any way to open settings it doesnt work like the display settings menu or personalize and when i try to use either of those it gives me the error: "this file does not have an app associated with it", ive tried using sfc /scannow and it says "Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files but

To turn off windows updates in windows 7 follow these steps:

Click the start button, in the search box type in 'windows updates', click on 'windows update'
in the search results list, in the left side of the windows update window click 'change settings'
then in the option bar select 'Never check for updates'.

 

Search for installed updates

Go to add/remove programs and enable showing of Windows updates

 

windows xp installation and dual core am

could someone please list the steps they follow to install windows with a dual core processor and windows xp service pack to. I'm reletively new to amd dual core and i feel i'm missing a step. All help will be appreciated. thanx
