  1. Cant access permissions for desktop apps

I need to allow my browser (chrome) to access camera and microphone in order to do video conferencing. In the permissions settings page desktop apps are allowed permissions but none show up. I am also unable to access app settings from either right clicking in start menu or from Apps and Features

App Permissions for Desktop apps (ScreenRec)

    Hi lanex,

Thank you for writing to Microsoft Community Forums.

Desktop apps are a specific type of app that won’t ask for permission to access data associated with privacy settings in Windows 10 in the same way that a Microsoft Store app does. Some desktop apps may not even ask
for permission to get access to personal data stored on your device. Desktop apps also won’t appear in the list of apps in the privacy settings pages that allows you to choose which apps can use data associated with that privacy setting. For more info,
refer to Windows 10 desktop apps and privacy

Ideally, any privacy setting that is to be set-up should be done within the app.
On ScreenRec, the microphone is selected by default to allow you to add audio narration. I would suggest you to look for a setting within the app that could help you tweak the recording settings. You may want to refer to the article
Record Your Computer Screen And Audio (For Free) for the same.

For further help, I would suggest you to get in touch with the app publisher.

    Regards,

    app file access permission

Some of the whitepapers on the
    business site
have some info about the security in Windows Phone.

However, each app lists its permissions on the store page. This list CANNOT BE FAKED as it's generated by Microsoft by analyzing what APIs the app uses. So if an QR code reader lists as needed contact access, better check that the app has a feature to read
business cards and make a contact card. (Not that you need a QR Reader as that's built into the phone). Since WP is much more locked down than Android, an app can't just do whatever it wants with the system. An app cannot access anything outside of its sandbox,
so it can't do anything with any file you store on the phone.

The only "on/off" permission is location. Otherwise, all other permissions an app states can be accessed.

    Here
    is the list of permissions.

  4. Cant access permissions for desktop apps

Lost access to desktop and folder, change the permissions to access.

    Hi,

Sorry to know that you are facing this issue.

Before I proceed further, I would like to know the below information.

    • Are you able to access your computer completely?

    • You are the administrator of the computer/ the local user?

    • Is that trying to access the file and folders through the Microsoft account?

    Method1:
If you concerned about file permissions?

    • Right click on the folder which you are not able to access and select the
Properties of the main user profile folder where the files are located (such as Documents, Pictures, etc.).

    • Go to the Security tab
      and click Advanced.

    • Check the box at the bottom of this window.

    • It is labeled "Replace all child object permissions with inheritable permissions from this object" and then click Ok.
This does a one-time action that replaces the security on all the files/subfolders. It’s one-time, so you won’t find that box checked if you peek at it later. Please let us know if it’s working

    Method2:
I suggest to follow the below mentioned steps and check with the login user account/ administrator account.

    • Press the Windows key + R on the keyboard.

    • Type Netplwixz
      and press Enter.

    • Click on Add button, create a new local user account and follow the on-screen instruction to create a new local user account.

    • Click on new user account, Select
Properties, and then the Group Membership tab.

    • Select the Administrator tab, then click OK twice.

Please revert back to us for further assistance with the detailed information. We would be glad to assist you.

    Thank you.
