Windows 10: Can't access photos.

I have a Windows 10 operating system and I want to keep it that way. I haven't been able to access the classic "Photos" app that we all know and love, yet strangely enough if I use the search in the taskbar, I can still access the photos in the "Recent" tab. And I have tried clicking the "See all photos" button in the top left, nope. And the "Add to" button is also unusable. All other apps are, to my knowledge, completely accessible. Command prompt, notes, file explorer, except photos.Please help, I have tons of photos there that I have put effort into.Edit: I just realized I can use File Expl

Cannot access my photos

  How was the data transferred?

  On which device is he accessing the photos? Is it on Phone or Computer?
  
• 
  If on phone, from which device did he transferred the Photos and contacts?
  
• 
  Which app are you using to access Photos?
  
• 
  What is the model of the Phone?
  

This might have caused due to:

• 
  The Photos were not transferred properly.
  
• 
  Due to Photos file were corrupt.
  
• 
  May be due to Virus attack.
  
• 
  The format of the Photo is not compatible with your phone.
  

Steps to be taken:

• 
  Restart or Reboot the phone.

File Explorer Crashes and unable to access Photo App

I understand the inconvenience caused to you while accessing the photos from Photo App, we will help you with this issue.

I suggest you to copy the photos files to a different location and try to upload it as a profile picture on Outlook account and check if you are able to do it.

If the issue still persist, suggest you to troubleshoot the Photo App.

Method 1:

I suggest you to run the Windows Store Apps troubleshooter.

Follow the below steps:

• Type troubleshooting in the search bar.
• Select Troubleshooting.
• Select View all on the top left corner.
• Click on Windows Store Apps.
• Select “Advance” and click on “Run as Administrator”.
• 
  Click “Next” and follow the on-screen instructions to complete the troubleshooting process.
  

If the issue persists then follow the below method:

Method 2: I would recommend you to uninstall the Photo app
using Windows PowerShell command and reinstall using the Windows store. Follow the below steps.

• 
  Open the Start menu, type Windows PowerShell in
  the search bar.
  
• 
  Right click on the Windows PowerShell and select Run as administrator.
  
• 
  Enter the below command to uninstall the Photo app.
  

• get-appxpackage *Microsoft.Windows.Photos* | remove-appxpackage

After performing the above steps, install the Photo app from the Windows store.

Lost default photo viewer after profile rebuild

Thanks Brink. I've tried those steps before i started searching Google. After the profile rebuild i don't have the Photo app listed to choose to make it default in either the system settings for default apps or the Open With option.

I can't even find it doing a search. Seems to have been removed somehow with the profile rebuild, which doesn't make sense.

Might be helpful to list what i've done I've done the open with check, the choose default program in the system menu, tried that in device manager default programs also. I've checked the programs and features Turn windows features on/off and it's not listed there (never thought it was but that was a suggestion), searched the MS Store, it's not listed there either.

I don't like playing in the registry unless i have defined steps and haven't found anything for this yet, just the Win7 version like in my OP.
