Windows 10: Can't add a shortcut key to run screensaver

    Can't add a shortcut key to run screensaver


    I want to assign a short cut key to PhotoScreensaver.scr. I have created a shortcut icon on Desktop. When I open Properties, it shows "Shortcut key: None" but it doesn't allow me to change it. When I click Advanced, "Run as administrator" is grayed out. I log on as Administrator as I'm the only one who use this PC. The OS is Windows 10 Home x64. Any advice would be appreciated.

    I would suggest you to try the following steps and check if that helps.

    • Go to the folder C:\Windows\System32 and sort by file type.
    • Look for the screensaver file type (.scr).
    • Find the file scrnsave.scr(you can choose any of the screensavers).
    • Right click and select send to>desktop (create shortcut). The shortcut on my attachment, but when i click on it my screen goes off and on and nothing else.Can't add a shortcut key to run screensaver :)

    Could you show me a simple way to create a shortcut for screensaver so i don`t have to search for it? Windows updates mess with the computer, change things hard to find.Can't add a shortcut key to run screensaver :)
