  1. Can't add folders to File Explorer pinned list on Windows 11

Hi! As stated, I can't add folders to the File Explorer pinned list. I have no trouble pinning anything else. I don't want to use the shortcut solution, because I have a lot of folders to quickly access and the bar would be full and it would take too long to see which one I want. I want to pin to the list when you right click on File Explorer in the task bar. There is no issue pinning File Explorer, only adding pins to its list. Nothing happens when I have tried: clicking the pin icon when you hover over recent folders in the list, dragging a folder to the taskbar, and when right clicking a

    Windows 10 Tweaks

Pressing “Windows+Pause Break” (it’s up there next to scroll lock) opens the “System” Window.

Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

    • Open a new Explorer window.
    • Click View in the ribbon.
    • Click Options.
    • Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
    • Click OK

Can't add folders to File Explorer pinned list on Windows 11

    Pinning To File Explorer

I can confirm that in 1903 I can click and drag a folder and pin it to File Explorer on the taskbar. I can also confirm that the pinned folders on the taskbar are the same ones show in Quick Access in File Explorer, and that pinning a new one to the taskbar adds it to Quick Access.

It may be that your File Explorer jump list is corrupted. This can happen occasionally and have similar odd effects to those you describe. If so, you can delete the jump list and start again with an empty list. To do so, delete the file:

    %appdata%\microsoft\windows\recent\automaticdestinations\f01b4d95cf55d32a.automaticDestinations-ms

To clear the jump lists for all apps, not just the one for File Explorer, see this tutorial.
