Windows 10: Can't attach an open Microsoft file in Gmail

I am using Windows 11I have tried this using Google Chrome and Microsoft edge with the same result.All of a sudden if I attach a word or excel document to my Gmail it will not attach it unless I close the file.This has never been an issue before and it not productive if I have to close the file every time I need to attach it. This is new and was never an issue before. I have tried to clear the cookies and history but it did nothing. Please help.

When I try to download and open a gmail attachment, I mostly get the message "Download didn't complete. Try again". This happens for jpg files (even very small ones, just a few KB) and pdf files. Trying again doesn't help. BTW I have the Adobe Reader app
but it doesn't help opening pdf attachments.

I have an HTC Surround with AT&T. Any suggestions?

The Gmail app doesn't allow you to download attachments. I suggest using Nokia Messaging instead, or opening Gmail in the browser when you get an attachment.

Method 1:

I suggest you clear the Clear browsing data option of Microsoft Edge and check if you face the issue. To do so perform the steps below.

1. Click on theMore actions icon next to the feedback icon present on top right corner of the Edge.

2. Select Settings and click on
Choose what to clear.

3. Check the boxes Browsing history, Cookies and saved website data and Cached data and files and click on
Clear.
