  1. Can't Boot into the UEFI settings no matter what I do

what happened was that i set my computer to dual boot windows 10 and ubuntu which i've done a million times btw so i can almost do it with my eyes closed, lol anyways, my issue is that now, i can't load the UEFI settings and even worse than that, i can't boot anything through USB, it just freezes. i found that out because i was going to restore a clonezilla backup but my PC would just freeze everytime i tried to load it from USB which forced me to hard reset my computer. i've tried to load the UEFI settings in different ways, like pressing F2 when the computer first turns on, usually loads it but it didn't work and i've tried to load it through the Grub2 bootloader with no luck and i've even tried to load it through windows by going to settings and restarting to get to the settings that way.
This is when I try to boot into the UEFI settings from Windows

and this is what happens when I try to boot it through the Grub2 Bootloader:

I've tried google search after google search for days trying to find a solution with no luck. any help would be great! thanks in advance! what it does when I try to boot it by pressing F2 is that the screen turns black for a second then restarts and it'll get stuck in a reboot loop if i hold f2

    :)

  2. Surface UEFI screen

I turned my Surface book on today and the UEFI appeared. This is the first time seeing this screen. Now I can't boot into Windows, no matter what I do. Any thoughts???

Can't Boot into the UEFI settings no matter what I do

Try removing the CMOS battery, as that usually forces a jump to bios.

I'd suggest resetting or clearing your CMOS. Give that a try and report back. If that works and lets you back into your UEFI BIOS then we can move forward. If not, remove the CMOS battery for about 2 minutes (be sure to unplug the power cord from your PSU, so I've been told) and then put it back in. Clear the CMOS once again and power your system on. Try and enter your BIOS.

EDIT: wheyy, cereberus got there first! Can't Boot into the UEFI settings no matter what I do :p

  6. thanks for the really fast reply! i've been to a lot of forums and noone has replied this fast, lol so yesterday, i took my laptop apart, i forgot to mention that it was a laptop, and i didn't see a cmos battery. i took a pic of the board just in case i needed it so i wouldn't have to take it apart to check for something else

  8. Can't Boot into the UEFI settings no matter what I do

thanks for the link and i checked it out and unfortunately i guess my laptop has to be one of the different ones.. it doesn't have a pinhole in it and i seen this one site that said to check under the ram and no luck so i'm most sure that my cmos battery is on the other side of the motherboard. i don't have much time to take my laptop completely apart but i will have the time later on today. is their anything else i can try until i can get to the cmos battery or is this the best thing? thanks again for the help btw

From what I can find, you should be able to enter BIOS/UEFI setup at boot time:

Power on the computer. Press the "F2" key when prompted on the boot screen to enter the Toshiba laptop BIOS setup program. If the "F2" prompt does not appear, allow the computer to boot to Windows, then shut down the computer to try another method.

Boot from Win 10 installation medium and via 'Repair Your Computer' navigate to a prompt to boot to UEFI settings.

Toshiba- I've seen F1 or ESC suggested.

  12. Another bad thing Is that it won't boot from any USB or CD which I don't have a CD drive in my laptop, I use an external blu-ray drive so technically that's a USB drive also. I hit f12 to get to the boot menu and when I select boot from USB, it freezes and I have to hold the power button till my PC shuts off. Usually when I'm fixing my PC, that's the first thing I'll do Is boot from a USB to fix it. But windows will still boot so anything I can do to fix it, it'll have to be in windows unfortunately. I was actually thinking that my UEFI firmware was corrupted at first but I don't think windows will boot if it was. I can get to the same command prompt in windows as if I was booting from the windows DVD by holding the shift key and clicking restart in windows and I'll have the choice in that menu to restart and go to the command prompt so if you can think of anything I can do in the command prompt that might work, I would really appreciate it. Thanks

Can't Boot into the UEFI settings no matter what I do

    shutdown /r /f /t 00

Then at first signs of rebooting, repeatedly press F2.

Try that and if it doesn't help, try an Admin command prompt and run C:\Windows\System32\shutdown.exe /r /fw

Boot to UEFI Firmware Settings from inside Windows 10
    Option 2
