Windows 10: Can't boot on bitlocker ssd after a Windows 10 blue screen/crash

I am running Windows 10 PRO with all the latest updates installed. My system is set up with a single SSD drive that contains both the OS Windows 10 PRO and my data. This drive is encrypted using BitLocker.Yesterday, I encountered a 'Windows blue screen' or a computer crash, which caused the computer to stop prompting me for the BitLocker password during startup, as it normally does.Now, when I power on the computer, instead of asking for the BitLocker password, it displays the following message: 'Reboot and Select proper Boot device or Insert Boot Media in selected Boot device and press a ke

BitLocker normal light-blue screen but no unlock prompt. Still works!

I've enabled BitLocker (Win 10 Pro) on a Dell laptop Inspiron 5558 and all went well.

BUT.... When I power on the computer the familiar light blue BitLocker screen appears but there is no prompt to enter the key. Just a light blue screen, nothing else whatsoever. However, I can enter the BitLocker key (blind, of course) and then viola Windows boots up properly! So BitLocker is working.

I would normally suspect a display driver issue but the BitLocker code happens long before any device-specific display driver would load (right?). Anyone else seen this or have suggestion on what to do?

 

Windows 10 BSOD freeze after sleep + blue screen on boot

I had the following problem:

I just fresh installed Windows 10 on my ThinkPad t450s and crashed after every sleep.

When the laptop is in sleep mode and I open it and press a key to wake it up:

• BSOD appears directly saying "Your PC ran into a problem and needs a restart. We're just collecting some error info, and then we'll restart for you. (0% complete) - [...] CRITICAL_PROCESS_DIED";
  
• OR login screen appears but everything is laggy and then the BSOD appears;
  
• OR once I've got as far as the desktop using the fingerprint device, but then the BSOD appeared, this time without the error name.
  

Never did the percentage change from 0% before the computer rebooted.

I updated the graphic card drivers and the Wi-Fi drivers, deactivated the quick boot and tried many bizarre suggestions from the internet, but nothing helped.

Now since the last sleep crash:

The computer doesn't work at all, it shows an empty blue screen after each startup.

I tried to repair Windows using the Windows 10 USB stick, but it fails to find anything wrong or to restore a previous build.

I found this post suggesting to delete a driver but I don't know how to do it as my drive is encrypted using BitLocker and the command prompt is telling me to use to control panel to unlock it.

 

Upgrade crashes: It now will not boot into windows at all and just goes into the blue troubleshooting screens

I regret the inconvenience you’re facing regarding Windows 10 upgrade, and I appreciate for trying the steps to fix the issue.

To assist you better, I request you to answer the following question:

• 
  Did you receive any error message while upgrading?
  
• 
  “Blue troubleshooting screens” do you refer to the Advance boot options for windows 10?
  

If you are not able to boot to the desktop screen, I suggest you to install the windows 10 using Media creation tool and check if it helps.

I suggest you re-built the boot record by following the below commands so that you can boot to the desktop screen and check if it helps.

You will have to use Windows 10 installation media to follow the steps to boot into Recovery Environment and try to rebuild BCD.

Step 1: I suggest you to create an installation media for
Windows 10 using the media creation tool:

Step 2: After preparing the installation media, insert it hard reboot the device and follow the below:

• Boot into Windows Recovery Environment using the Windows 10 installation media.
• Click on Repair your computer.
  
• Click on Troubleshoot and in the Advanced options.
• Select Command Prompt. Type the following commands into the prompt and press Enter key after each command.

• 
  bootrec /fixmbr
  
• 
  bootrec /fixboot
  
• 
  bootrec /scanos
  
• 
  bootrec /rebuildbcd
  

5. Restart the computer.

NOTE: Modifying BIOS/ complementary metal oxide semiconductor (CMOS) settings incorrectly can cause serious problems that may prevent your computer from booting properly. Microsoft cannot guarantee that any problems resulting
from the configuring of BIOS/CMOS settings can be solved. Modifications of the settings are at your own risk.
