  1. Can't Change ACHI settings on HP Laptop

    Hi all.

As usual I'm late to the party but finally upgraded to a 500 GB Samsung EVO 850 last night.

The process was painless. I used Macrium to image the old drive, partitions and all, and it was a simple matter of restoring the images to the new drive.

    Took less than an hour.

However, apparently best practices are to enable ACHI. I can't seem to get this done on my system.

I don't seem to be suffering any performance issues according to the Samsung Magician.

Is ACHI as necessary as it's made out to be?

I do not have an ACHI setting in my BIOS, and if I remember correctly when I used to run 8.1 ACHI was enabled via the Intel Rapid Storage Technology Drive. I could be wrong.

I do not have the ACHI setting in my registry, nor do I have anything that appears to be ACHI related in Device Manager.

    Any thoughts?
Thanks in advance for the assist.

  2. Failed Windows 10 install - C1900101-4000D error message

I personally had no issues what so ever during all the Beta's to the Release and now with the November Update to Build 10586 on my Samsung 850 Pro SSD. Do you all have it set to ACHI mode in the BIOS? Also Upgraded my older Laptop with 4 year old Mushkin
SSD's from Win 7 x64 to Win 10 x64 but both have ACHI mode in the BIOS.

    Thanks,

    Daniel

Win 10 won't boot after recent update

    Hi Linney,

    my boot priority list is

USB hdd ( on which I have the win 10 bootable iso)

    sata cd (my DVD drive)

    sata hdd ( Samsung HN-m750mbb)

Also, as I have seen these mentioned elsewhere:

    legacy usb support enabled

    uefi boot support enabled

    achi mode control manual

    set achi mode disabled

there is nothing attached to my laptop except the power cable, but I still can't get safe mode. I've tried F5, F8, F10, F12....

also, I have attempted the clean install option, but can't remember why it failed. I'd reached the stage where I just wanted anything to work at that point
