  1. Can't change BIOS mode

Hi,My laptop's SMBIOS version is 2.7, so it should support UEFI and Secure boot. However, there is no option to change the BIOS mode in the BIOS setup. So I'm stuck with Legacy boot and a MBR disk. Does anyone know how to change the BIOS mode?Thank you in advance,TechnoNerd_Kepler22b

    :)

  2. BIOS VIDEO MODES Question *

    Hello folks !

I would like to ask if the LIST of VIDEO MODES supported by any VGA/SVGA BIOS is an **arbitrary choice** . . . or if the list of modes can be changed/added at will and if so, how.

Also, given today's high powered vga hardware, suppose I desired something called VESA MODE 104h to be available in the vga bios. Would that stress the internal hardware unnecessarily, do you think ??

    thanks,
    Dan

    Can't change BIOS mode

Should I change BIOS Mode to UEFI?

You boot into UEFI mode by disabling CSM mode (or possibly called legacy mode) in your UEFI settings. But, until you prepare your hard drive (or SSD) to boot in UEFI, you likely will fail to boot. To convert your HDD or SSD to boot in UEFI mode you could try this:
Convert Windows 10 from Legacy BIOS to UEFI without Data Loss

But, if you succeed in converting the HDD/SSD to GPT, and you can't change you BIOS to boot in UEFI mode, then again you will fail to boot. So, I would suggest that you really know what you are doing before you undertake changing legacy BIOS (CSM mode) booting to UEFI.

I would suggest running Ubuntu in a Virtual Machine rather than dual booting.
