Windows 10: Can't Change Child's Password on Windows 10

There was a previous post with this same title. Doesn't seem like anyone ever answered the question on how the administrator of a PC can change the account passwords for other users (aka their children). The previous post was locked because it was so old, so I am adding a new one because the problem still exists. I made my son an account on my PC (my account is the administrator). I want to change his password, but I can't do that from my account (option doesn't exist). So I log into his account and select "Change password", only it forces me to log in again with his password, then my account and password only to demand my credit card information and will charge me $0.50 (to be donated) so that I can prove my age. WTF...I am the administrator, I don't need to give my credit card to prove my age. I just want to change the damn password on a user account on my machine.

Forgot Child's Password

Hi Jason,

It's possible that you'll be able to change the password through your own administrator account. Just to confirm, is your daughter's account a Microsoft account, or a local user account?

If it's a local account, remove or change the password from the Control Panel. Sign in using your administrator account, then follow these steps:

• Click Start.
• Type Control Panel and press Enter.
• Click User Accounts.
• Click Manage another account.
• If the User Account Control window pops up, click Yes.
• Choose the local account that you want.
• Click Change the password.
• Leave the password fields empty if you want to remove the password. Otherwise, enter the new password that you want to use, as wells as a hint and click
  Change password.

If it's a Microsoft family account, follow these steps to remove your child's account:

• Log in using your adult account
  here.
• On the right side of your child's account, click Remove.
• Click Remove again.

After removing the account, you can set up your child's account again. Make sure that you have the correct password when you sign in.

Let us know if you're able to change or remove the password of your child's account after following these steps.

 

Child can not log in to windows 10 laptop anymore

I suggest you to check if check if you are able to login online using the Child account. I suggest you to change the password for the child account by following the steps provided below and check if it helps.

• Press Windows key + X and select Control Panel.
• Click on Family Safety and select the child account.
• On the left navigation pane, select Change Password.
• Follow the on-screen prompts and check if the password is changed.
• Login with the new password and check if it helps.

If you are logged in using an administrator account and you have set up the child accounts using the same account, then you should be able to change their passwords:



Please follow these steps to do so:

• Press Windows key + X key.
• 
  Click on Control Panel.

  Under view, select large icons.
  
• 
  Go to User Account.
  
• 
  Click on Manage another account.
  
• 
  Select the User Account for which you want to select the password.
  
• 
  Click on Change the password.
  
• 
  Click on Change password button.
