Windows 10: cant change file explorer icon. on the taskbar

remember when i had a problem with error icons?well now i have a completely new problem!i cant change the explorer icon on the taskbar. change it back to normal10/10 Windows 11 qualityagain, anything ill take thats not reseting my pcSpecs: Surface Go 2Intel Pentium4 GB of RAM"5.71" GB of StorageTouch Screenand its currently running Windows 11btw it came with windows 10 1909ok i hope anyone can fix my problem. File explorer icon from taskbar dissappears while working on it

To assist you with your concern, we suggest you pin the File Explorer from the Start Menu by following these steps:

• Click the Start Menu.
• Right-click File Explorer.
• Choose Pin to taskbar.

Windows Explorer taskbar icon issue.

I had this same issue, and was lucky enough to fix it by comparing taskbar settings between two users, one whom was not experiencing this.

Another great innovation by Microsoft, adding functions to certain options without telling you.

To fix this, right click on the taskbar, click taskbar settings, you are looking for a dropdown box labeled "Combine Taskbar Buttons" When this is set to "When Taskbar is Full" the icon of file explorer changes to the icon listed on the Navigation Pane. Change this setting to "Always, hide Labels" to ensure the folder icon is always displayed for file explorer.

 

System Icons on taskbar

Are you referring to the clock system icon on the taskbar?

If so, I suggest you to follow the steps mentioned below:

• 
  Click on the search bar on the taskbar.
  
• 
  Type system icons.
  
• 
  Under Turn System Icons ON or OFF, turn On the Clock and check with the issue.
