  1. Can't change high DPI settings for a game

Yesterday, I tried to change the high DPI settings for a game launcher through the compatibility tab. Today, the program suddenly cannot display properly anymore, only a small block of the program is displayed whereas the rest of it is just white. So I wanted to revert back the settings but today the settings are disabled and blurred out that I cannot undo the settings I did yesterday. How do I make it so that the settings are alterable again?Note: I have already tried repairing, reinstalling everything and deleting AppData files.

    :)

  2. [SOLVED] How can I get 'Change high DPI settings' to work?

    ===== SOLUTION =====

Go ahead and read my problem statement, but look at my second post to see the solution.

    =====

Applications (a game in this case) have Property sheets.

"Properties" > _/Compatibility\_ > --Settings-- > [Change high DPI settings] opens a secondary dialog with the following controls:

    Program DPI

    [_] Use this setting...

    [I signed in to Windows]

    [I open this program]

    High DPI scaling override

    [_] Override high DPI...

    [Application]

    [System]

    [System (Enhanced)]

I've tried all 12 combinations. They appear to do nothing.

I think these Property settings are meant to control graphic scaling, useful for high DPI systems. My laptop has a 3840x2160 display.

Can anyone tell me how to get 'Change high DPI settings' to work?

    Warm Regards,

    Mark.

Can't change high DPI settings for a game

Understanding Priority of High DPI Settings Dialog

Windows 10 Pro, Version 21H1, OS build 19043.1415

In File Explorer, select an EXE file.
Open Properties | Select Compatibility tab | click "Change high DPI settings" button
The High DPI Settings dialog appears. See Left picture below.

Check the "High DPI scaling override" checkbox.
The "Scaling performed by:" has a listbox with three choices. Select one.

The dialog also has the "Program DPI" checkbox
which says "Use this setting to fix scaling problems for this program instead of the one in Settings".

If I check the "Program DPI" checkbox,
it enables the "Use the DPI that's set for my main display when" dropdown list.
Is the only function of the "Program DPI" checkbox to allow you to specify
"I signed in to Windows" or "I open this program" for the app?

Why does "Program DPI" have the link "Open Advanced scaling setting"
which takes you to the "Advanced scaling settings"? See Right picture below.
"Advanced scaling setting" are global for a display - not app specific.
Is this just a convenience so you can see the settings for "Advanced scaling setting"?

How does the "Program DPI" checkbox relate to the checked "High DPI scaling override"?

If "Program DPI" is unchecked, does Windows ignore the "Advanced scaling setting" and only use the "High DPI scaling override"?

If "Program DPI" is checked, does Windows ignore the "Advanced scaling setting", use the "Use the DPI that's set for my main display when" setting, then use the "High DPI scaling override" setting?

Thanks in advance for the feedback.
