Windows 10: Can't change lock screen, I can select any picture but actual change won't happen.

I can only change from the 5 recent pictures, and it will change actually, but any other picture won't just show on lock screen. I can select Spotlight but it will just show a solid color background. I even tried contacting MS support, but they assigned me an idiot who said Home users can't change Lock Screen and I was like dude WHAAAT!!! I know I am no Rocket Scientist but I am no idiot either.

Lock Screen keeps changing

Thank you for writing to Microsoft Community Forums.

Windows Spotlight picks the photos from Bing and displays them in the lock screen. I understand that you have set a picture and it is getting changed automatically.

I suggest you to follow the steps to select the Picture that you want to be displayed on the lock screen. Please follow the steps mentioned below to set a Picture to lock screen:

1. Press and hold Windows + I key on the keyboard to open settings.
   
2. Click on Personalization.
   
3. Click on Lock screen.
   
4. Click on the drop down under Background and select
   Picture.
   
5. Click on Browse and select the picture that you want to set.

Lock screen not changing picture


So when I go to the lock screen in Windows 10 I can select a picture and the preview shows it fine. However when I actually lock my PC it still shows the default Windows 10 one. (Not a solid colour)

PC upgraded from Windows 7 recently. All updates applied.

I have tried so many things, deleted systemdata folder in programdata, tried running registry repairs, sfc scannow etc.

Anyone got any ideas why it will let me change the lock screen picture with no problems, change the preview but the actual lock screen image itself doesn't change?

It's really bugging me. Thanks.

 

Volume Mute Light won´t change color

I can´t find anything that addresses my actual problem.I have seen that others have also experienced this problem but I have not found a solution that works. My ProBook was originally Win 7 pro, updated to Win 10 pro but HP won´t update because of its age (for me, brand new-just bought it a few days ago) so I don´t really know what to do. Sure, just a minor glitch but a very irritating one (that orange is just way too bright!) that should be a snap to fix (or not-I don´t know, I think my 4 year old granddaughter has better computer skills than I do!) English is not the default language so many of the commands must be translated-just another hassel to deal with. I finally found the systemconfig. box. Selective start and discovered that ALL the service boxes are checked. Good, bad, doesn´t make a difference: I just don´t know.
