Windows 10: Can't change monitor resolution

During the install Windows 10 chose an incorrect monitor size. It chose a 19" and I have a 25". The resolution is set to 1024x768 nothing is displaying correctly. I need a 1900x1200 resolution but the drop down selector is greyed out and gives me no options other than the incorrect one that was auto-chosen. How do I get around this? At this point my computer is pretty much totally unusable.

I must have a monitor that displays correctly because I work from home and this is my work computer.

I just upgraded to Windows 10

I have an ASUS PA248Q monitor that Windows 10 only sees as a standard PnP monitor and sets up with resolution 1024x768 and I can't find a way to change the setting to use the higher resolution the monitor is capable of.

Original title - Resolution Problem

So I just installed Windows 10, and my resolution can't be changed. The box is grayed out and windows says it can't detect my monitor even though it displays fine. I know my max settings for the monitor are 1690 x 1080 but the box has it listed as 1024 x
768. How can i fix this and increase my resolution?

 

I think you may to plan on a PC Refresh since the settings being greyed out indication something with the system files is lacking there. I tried starting the old SFC /SCANNOW trick to see if the System File Checker was still an option and NADA No Go! And if this is the first 10 install it had to be an upgrade which can be "BUGGY"!

I've been going over this countless times already with people running into all kinds of issues with the first upgrade type install of 10 and explained what it took to so far with fingers crossed see 10 running good but not as ideal as possible. That will take a full clean install of 10 to come! Here it was sound and one other expansion card plus the antivirus program's latest version as well as 2016 beta now running by the way that simply would not install due to a buggy upgrade!

Solution? Besides the full clean install that will come you have the choice of the second upgrade install over the first which acts as a Repair Install of Windows 10 or use the Full Clean install where everything is wiped PC Refresh option you can get to at either start up when tapping the F8 key right when 10 is about to start getting past the post screens or booting live from the 10 media if you created the usb install key that is and used that for the upgrade. Either option should see improved performance as well as allow you to make the right choice the second time around! *Smile
