Windows 10: Can't change my pincode when I forgot, even though I can log-in to my account needed to...

I have forgotten my pincode from a laptop I don't often use. When I want to change the pincode I am first asked to log in to my Microsoft account. After doing this, it tells me I can't change my PIN right now. It gives me the option to either skip this step or try again. Skipping the step makes me fill in my PIN which I don't know, trying again gives me the exact same message.I don't understand what the problem is.

login with pincode is no longer possible after system restore

Someone from other post with same issue found the solution for my problem.

Resetting alone did not do the job but after suggested following 'Forgot my pincode' procedure making new pincode (same is possible) I had to login again to Microsoft account and that straightened things out again.

After restart I could login again with pincode!

Error 0x80090016 log in with pincode

Hi, I got a problem. I want to log in with my pincode, as I don't know my password. But after entering the correct pin I get error code 0x80090016.

The first thing I did was starting in safe mode. Bit unfortunately I was not able to select sign in options in safe mode, so I cannot get to the screen where I can enter my pincode.

Second thing I did was hitting forgot password, where I needed to enter my full gmail address, but I do not receive any recovery mail via gmail.

So third thing I did was the other option in forgot password, where I needed to go to a certain link where I should be able to recover my account. But O do not know any other passwords nor any recent mailing contact, as I do only login via pin and mail via
other servers.

So now I am lost and am not able to start my computer. I am using Windows 10 and there are no other accounts at the pc. Any ideas?

I would suggest you to follow the below steps and check if it helps.

• Try disconnecting the cable from the Internet:

• • If there is a Wi-Fi icon on the sign-in screen, click it and go to Airplane mode.
    
  • If there is a wired connection, disconnect the wire.
  • If sign-in is successful, let us know in the comments!
  • Also, we can then change to a local account, restart, and re-connect to the MSA.
    
  • If this works, please let us know!

2. Try sign-in on another device (phone or PC) via the
https://account.microsoft.com
page.

• If the sign-in is unsuccessful, stop and handle it like any other password issue.
  
• If sign-in is successful there, don’t try resetting/changing the password, continue to the next step.

3. Try using the On-Screen Keyboard to sign in on the PC.

4. If that fails, make sure the PC is connected to the Internet (the connection icon should be visible in the lower right).
