Windows 10: Can't click anywhere upon waking from sleep, and USB sound card stops working

When any of my PCs wake from sleep, I can't click anywhere unless I tap Ctrl+Alt+Del and open Task Manager so I return to the desktop. Sometimes this solves the issues; sometimes it doesn't and I have to restart the PC from the prompt that appears when Ctrl+Alt+Del is pressed.Also, some of my USB devices stop working alltogether mainly my sound card unless I disconnect and re-connect them.This only started happening in the past week, and I've made no hardware or software changes in that time. These problems happen across ALL my PCs - one w/ Windows 10, one w/ Windows 11.What could be causi

Thank you for posting your reply. Apologize for the delay in response.

I suggest you to check which devices are configured to wake up the computer from sleep by following the steps below:

• Right click on Start icon and select Command Prompt (Admin).
• Type the command line below:

Powercfg /devicequery wake_armed

3. Check if the devices (Keyboard, Mouse, Ethernet cable) are listed.

If the system is not going to sleep and going to Hybernate, the only option to wake up is to press the Power button.

Auto Wakes From Sleep / USB Connection Sound

I think these issues are connected.

For one, when I restart my computer (sometimes) there is the sound W10 makes when you connect or disconnect a USB device. It happens over and over.

I stop it by either letting it go and it tires itself out or disconnecting and reconnecting my KB. It doesn't happen on returning from sleep, only fresh reboot.

The other, and I suspect related, issue is that my computer will wake itself from sleep randomly.

I have made some changes to my system including a new keyboard and associated icue software. I do suspect it but I stopped it from running on startup and no change. I changed my power settings so nothing can wake it from sleep. I'm not sure what else to
try at this point. Any help is appreciated.

 

Mouse won't wake up computer from sleep.

When my computer goes to sleep, power light is blinking on the computer so perhaps it's deep sleep, moving the USB attached mouse does not wake it up.
Allow mouse to wake is enabled:





This used to work, even with 2004 but somewhere with one of their updates it stopped working. I tried a new mouse, same problem. Any suggestions?

Yes, I've done many Google searches and looked at lots of responses but there really is nothing more than the above as far as a suggested fix.

I've uninstalled the mouse from Device Manager then rebooted, no help.

USB attached keyboard works okay and wakes the computer.
